To solve big complex problems
A little wicked thinking goes a long wayWelcome to my wicked world!
Is your head and your heart out of sync?
Are you tuned into all the big changes happening in our world and worried your organization isn’t?
(Hello climate change, inequality, technological disruptions, economic uncertainty and bad behaviour – you get the big picture.)
Do you know you and your organization need to change but aren’t sure how to do it?
Wicked.
You came to the right place.
I was once just like you.
I graduated in the last century and went to work as a journalist – my dream job.
The first decade was a blast. I loved going to work.
Broke a bunch of news. Met a lot of cool people. Won a few awards. Travelled around North America (and to China too!). Sat down with influential and powerful leaders in business and government. Opined my way onto national radio and TV.
Then one day, and I remember this like it was yesterday, even though it was 2003, I was sitting at my desk in the newsroom getting ready to write a column about education reform…and I couldn’t think of anything new to write.
My notebook was filled with quotes offering up the same old solutions for the same old problems, pitched by the usual suspects. I didn’t want to write that column.
I did write it (daily deadlines!) but it was the nudge that sent me searching for a different path, one that put my values to work on issues of personal and professional importance to me.
Turns out these big complicated issues have a name: wicked problems, issues that are difficult to define, dominated by multiple viewpoints and linked to other wicked problems.
Awesome.
How I can help you
Wicked Ideas for wicked problems
The world we are familiar with is becoming history. In its place is rising a new era – the knowledge age.
Massive technological change is the root cause but it has a ripple effect, unleashing equally massive economic, social, political and ecological change.
All that change is causing the biggest, most wickedly challenging problem of all: our core, societal values are shifting.
Your employees, stakeholders, customers and investors are starting to question what you stand for and why.
You need a wickedly good response.
